I'm just going by what I heard and black women aren't putting "white hair" on top of their hair. Like I said before nobody wants white peoples hair and nobody wants to look like a white woman.

THIS! It's the same ass thing that if we spoke Ebonics people will slander us to no end. But when white people use our dialect it's trendy cool and rebellious. So we gotta speak in standard English to assimilate.

If its not 'white hair' then what IS it?:wtf: If they don't want white people hair, then why are they wearing white people hair and horse hair?[/QUOTE

Because they are forced to follow a Eurocentric system. If it was the other way around, whites people would have African first names, tan their skin, speak a African language, try to look like black men and women and cap for African people, sell out their own etc. and you would have white people defying African supremacy by trying to look European the best way they can. But it wouldn't look like the way they do now though.

Young. Everybody keep talking around this, making excuses.

The first black millionaire made her money by pumping out products that helped black women look like antebellum white girls.

For real though.

That's cool. But Marcus Garvey didn't want her ads in his news paper. Told her straight up he doesn't want black women adopting the dominant society ways. Dude was ahead of his time.

I swear every time on these black gossip or urban sites an article or story is posted about white folks either stealing or harming black folks and all of a sudden it turns into pointing fingers at black people.

Here c00ns taking these ignorant white folks wearing afros and using it point fingers at black women.

When Zimmerman got off ignorant c00ns used that shyt to point fingers at black men dating non black women (cause the jury was mostly non black women).

When roof walked into the church and killed them innocent black folks. c00ns used that situation to point the finger at church going black folks.

I swear you folks on these gossip sites are dumb as fukk. No matter what site it is...thecoli, lipstickalley, Bossip, Mediafakeout and the rest.

In the end lets stick to the subject. This shyt is about culture vultures. There is a time and place to talk about all the things that black folks need to do or clean up on.

BUT RIGHT NOW we need to focus on these culture vultures. That is what this thread is about....not sistas with weave, or brothas that don't pay child support, or lil gangbangers in Chicago or any of that shyt.

My main issue is why so many black women put emphasis on changing white people beauty standard? Why do you care what the white media thinks. I can understand if they're wearing weave because some jobs are :whoa: to natural women, but all those other excuses like it protects your hair or you were taught to hate your own hair are not good enough. You're grown now, you should know better.

thanks, breh, i was looking for this on google and couldn't find it.

women like @SouthernBelle pretend these black women were envious, NOT OF WHITE WOMEN, but asian and indian women. :beli:

First of all it's 2015. No one is buying or wants white women hair.

Second, during that same time period black men were wearing conks. Did they want to be white men? For consistency's sake I hope you say yes, but no they did not want to be white men.

so the black womans envy switched from eurocentric beauty to asian/indian centric beauty in what time period? :aicmon:

and i never said BW wanted to be white women, although that may be true as well, certainly during that time period. but BM and BW definitely wanted to adhere to euro-centric beauty standards as well. luckily, most BM ditched the self hatred and embraced our natural hair. "b-b-but black men shave their hair off","b-b-but waves." please stop. we all see hoards of BM rocking their nappy hair proudly. can we say the same for BW? obviously not, since this weave shyt is still a trillion dollar industry.

Adhere to euro-centric standards of beauty is not the same thing as envy. shyt back then trying to fit in and assimilate had important LIFE consequence. It's not life and death now, but plenty of black women are rejecting eurocentric standards of beauty and y'all still shyt on them.

Actually, the language of the article is quite disturbing and problematic. It's not so much that white women are wearing afros per se. But the fact is they had done so,giving African/Afican-Americans as little credit as possible. Fact of the matter is that the afro was a way for African Americans to get closer to Africa and the people over there, it was connected to a greater awareness of the social condition and heritage of a people we were separated from when we were brought here. You could argue that the 70's were the pinnacle of Black beauty both aesthetically and culturally and women were the face of that. It's clear that natural hair is gaining traction within the Black community and white women want to appropriate that. I have been saying this for years now, white women admire Black women, they are the symbol of strength and struggle, my mother worked in a publishing house for years and even though she kept to her herself yet, all the white woman came to her for help and advice even though she was around their age or younger, some of it maybe came from a sort of mammy stereotype, but I think it also came from the fact they knew my mom had to work twice as hard and be twice as smart to do the same job they did. Whether or not you wear a natural hair style, if you don't feel some type of way, I won't go so far as to call you a c00n but you ain't woke and that's a fair statement. Black women have enough on their plates with out having their beauty undermined in such a direct manner that says, your hairstyle looks better on us, because we can be bold ballsy, provocative, yet tie it loose and relieve themselves of the Black experience when it is no longer convenient. Word to Rachel Dozeal.
