Several soccer players have actually been found to have CTE in autopsies. And a recent study showed that soccer players had reduced gray matter, more signs of cortical thinning, and structural damage in the brain in comparison to track and tennis athletes.
Heading the ball doesn't seem like a lot, but it's more impact than the human head is designed to take. It's not as dangerous as American football obviously, but soccer isn't a "safe" sport in terms of potential brain injury.
