Right! That post was a wild hot take :stopitslime: Every one of the artists in it except Portrait had more than one hit record :pachaha:

I didn’t say anything when I initially saw the post because I can see how SOME people may have a hard time at this point recognizing Zhane, Cece or Karyn but they are still & definitely were wayyyyyyy more recognizable than the dance crowd ever was

I remember going to a high school basketball game in like 91 and hearing “Strike It Up” and saying to myself “did those cats make that music specifically for moments like this?”

The early early 90s had some seriously underrated music then something weird happened and cats all of a sudden got extremely serious

Man I loved that era:mjcry: put ghetto heaven on there and this is pretty much my playlist

back when people were coming out the gate with bangers! We weren’t talking about who the goat is or nothing like that.

My Pops Forever RIP
Nostalgia is a bytch cuz I hated all those songs. shyt reminded me of my sisters dragging me to Fordham while they spent all day at Bon Bini shopping for clothes all day. Meanwhile I couldn’t do shyt. That’s all they played in that fukkin store, when Hot 97 played this all day.

add in some freestyle and it’s no wonder why gangsta rap spoke to me.
