I won't make this personal although you did without knowing me from anywhere but where will Craig Hodges go down in the annals of history? If he had a 15 year NBA career and was able to gain some support in the NBA fraternity I'm sure his statement would be remembered. If he won 3 3 point shootouts at the all star break, sure he would be remembered. But instead he felt making a statement with no support or contingency plan in place was the right thing to do and here he is 25 years later bitter that he got shoo'd away.

I guarantee if he could do it all again he wears his normal clothes to the whitehouse and saves his letter for another time.

And I don't want to hear about morals and beliefs when it comes to working unless you've never received a paycheck from a white owned company.
How do you know he doesn't have any money?

Cats applauded Steve Harvey for trying to start a conversation, what's the issue here? Also, the early 1990s were no fukking joke.

Show me where I said anything about his financial state (which I have no knowledge of).

I said he threw away a lottery ticket (which playing a game for millions of dollars while also being moderately famous should be considered as). If we can look at Chrissette Michelle and say the $250,000 she got for doing one Trump function was not worth it in the grand scheme of things because it will kill her career, then I can take an objective look at Craig's situation and come to the same conclusion (although at opposite ends of the spectrum).

Both felt they would make a bold statement with their 3 hour window of being close to the president without thinking about the 40-50 years they would have to deal with after.
No one can convince me that Craig Hodges, who worked his entire life to get to the NBA, would repeat his actions and wear the Dashiki to the white house and give a letter to the president again, if he knew he would be banished from the NBA for doing so.
Wrong place, wrong time and wasn't effective at all. It cost him more personally then it helped black people as a collective. The average black person can't tell you the difference between Craig Hodges and Merril Hoge.
And I say this with nothing but respect for Craig. The biggest thing a celebrity has over an average person is reach and influence. Without this incident what stops Craig from having a 15 year NBA career (shooters last longer than anyone else), winning 6 chips with the bulls and receiving the respect and acclaim of Kenny Smith? Imagine Craig with Kenny's platform and the ability to really reach some people. One white house visit ended the possibility of all that.

And now here we are.

Are you really blackballed if nobody in the locker room likes you?

Being a good teammate is like one of the most essential skills, specially if you are below average. Like you’re scoring 3 ppg and 32 years old and shytting on the best player of all times, who is your teammate, in media.

Better and younger people have been sent to China, without shytting on their teammates:yeshrug:
