Throw away your lottery ticket to make a political statement that no one will see or remember brehs.

Think being pro black during a whitehouse visit filled with white supremacist that cut your check will lead to a long productive career in the NBA brehs :cacmjnigpls:

That being said they fukked they man over.

Someone of us stand by our values because we weigh our morals and beliefs more than money and material possessions. Doesn't sound like that applies to you. :yeshrug:

I won't make this personal although you did without knowing me from anywhere but where will Craig Hodges go down in the annals of history? If he had a 15 year NBA career and was able to gain some support in the NBA fraternity I'm sure his statement would be remembered. If he won 3 3 point shootouts at the all star break, sure he would be remembered. But instead he felt making a statement with no support or contingency plan in place was the right thing to do and here he is 25 years later bitter that he got shoo'd away.

I guarantee if he could do it all again he wears his normal clothes to the whitehouse and saves his letter for another time.

And I don't want to hear about morals and beliefs when it comes to working unless you've never received a paycheck from a white owned company.

Does he need a louder voice when he handed a letter TO THE PRESIDENT? he was supposed to wait for a bigger platform than a direct communication with the sitting president?

Idk man, he stood on his principals and it's a shame he was blacklisted for it.

Again, where did that get him? Was the president there to meet him to have a people's rights summit or to chill and hang out with the best basketball team in the world? There is a time and place for everything. If you were headed out to drinks with your buddy or old lady would you stop at the store and listen to a guy in front of the store tell you the virtues of believing in Jesus Christ? Or would you tell him its not the time and go about your day.

The man was there for a sports celebration / party and decided he wanted to get political. Whenever someone tries to talk business with me when I'm out kicking it I make it clear that I'm chilling and leave business at the office. I respect and agree with his sentiments I just think it was the wrong time and place and paid dearly for not having that self awareness.

Its not about HIM. Thats my point. It was about doing what he believed to help his people. The time and place to deliver a message respectfully to the president is when you have an audience with the president. That is exactly what he did. He didnt "get political" he handed a letter to the president's AIDE. He didnt disrespect the event.

Him silently passing a respectful message about the plight of his people cost him his career. Thats shameful.

maybe, but if everyone went about everything the same way then nothing would change. Imagine if Malcolm & Martin fought injustice the same exact way. Fighting injustice is like boxing. Everyone has their own style and it's not wrong or right because it fits their sensibilities
