Even though Billups should never be mentioned with Isiah, he should count as another reason why this thread failed. Im sure he led the Pistons in assists and if he didnt lead in points he was the closest one. He was even the finals MVP, even though every player in that starting 5 was close in talent and what they brought, most people would probably say Billups was the leader and best player on the team.

Kidd and Nash never won a title because of Kobe, Shaq, and Duncan. 3 of the best players of all time. It just so happens that in this generation, none of the best players were PGs. If Kidd had a mid-range, 3 point jumper back then, or Nash was a defensive beast then the story would of been different; but they just weren't good enough players.

Zeke and billups were pieces of ensemble teams and had other weapons. Isiah did excell and is a favorite of mine but the waythe bulls, sonics, clippers, etc are building is different than detroit

Detroit literally built that team around Isiah though. He was the centerpiece of that franchise. I don't know why Billups was brought up.

When were they ever?

Magic (i mentioned) and zeke (argued) are the only thing close. His generation and the entire 90s was failure pg led teams

I get what you're trying to say, but going forward, that's gonna be less and less true.

Having a really good big is required though for any squad.

And I'm not just saying this as a fan of team building around a PG

Can't this be said for any position other than center?

Should GP be in there. He had Kemp for a while.

Nash at one point had Amare, Joe Johnson, Marion, Barbosa.

All of those teams chips weren't behind their PG.

Yes it can and it's the truth, excluding an exceptional few.
