No one cares about parity

When the Lakers were threepeating there wasnt anybody yapping about parity

When the bulls won 6 chips no one gave a fukk about parity then

For all the talk about the juggernaut that is the Western conference only 3 teams stand a chance out there.......by the way the East has definitely been the more entertaining conference with the better basketball this season

The only people who care about parity are those whose teams are on the outside looking in at successful organizations.

IF the Lakers suddenly got good again and won 5 chips in a row all these people talking about parity would SHUT THE fukk UP and be on forums flashing U MAD emojis

Yep you ain't never lied.

It's always funny when folks bring up the Knicks like they weren't involved in 2 of the lowest rated Finals in the 90s.

Breh the Knicks vs Houston finals were so low (really aren't low compared to the ratings now...but they were low for that time). That the NBA moved the three point line in and changed the hand checking rules the very next season.

All you heard media folks talking about was the finals were ugly and the knicks played ugly basketball. Well there you have it the villian Knicks and everyone hated to watch them play.

Remember how folks in the media hated Mason and Starks?

They just posted their best XMas Day Ratings in years and are coming off a record TV deal and dude is talking about how the ratings are hurting? One, TV ratings aren't what they used to be. Too many mediums to watch sports now that ratings just aren't accurate but more importantly, at the end of the day $$$ talks and if that TV deal says anything it's that the league is very popular and relevant regardless of whether or not there's a "villain."

That being said, Curry is a fukboy league face. I expect the spurs to snatch it back by the post-season especially with the way the spurs have been playing their last few games, and then hopefully someone more deserving is in the picture 3-4 years from now when they get even better.

NBA is too nice but it's the NBA fault because they'll tech a player up before they can even get into it w/ someone else

Exactly wasn't no damn villain. But in saying that the NBA has always been a super team or teams league when it came to carrying the league.

The Lakers and Celtics (with magic and Bird) brought the NBA out of the dark ages of the 70s when we had finals on tape delay.

Then in the 90s the bulls carried the league. After the Bulls it was Kobe and shaq Lakers who carried the league.

The ratings of the league came back when the Lakers got good again with Kobe and Gasol Lakers and with the Celtics coming with Garnett, Pierce and Allen. Then the ratings jumped even higher with the assembly of the heat team.

The NBA has never been like the NFL where a match up of two average teams can have ratings through the roof. Washington vs Kansas City chiefs in the Superbowl will get 100 million viewers.

Man if the Orlando magic played the Utah Jazz in the finals the ratings would be horrible. Lucky to get 3 million viewers per game.

Finally folks need to ignore an idiot like Cownerd. The NBA the last 6 or 7 years has had finals ratings that rivals the shyt they had when MJ and the bulls were playing on NBC in the 90s. Thanks to the Celtics, Kobe and the Lakers and Lebron James (Heat and Cavs). The media like Cownerd wants villains in the NBA cause that helps him talk about bull shyt for 3 hours a day. Cause a black villians is always easier to sell than a black hero especially in a sport where most of the stars and players are overwhelmingly black.

Lebron is the one who brought ratings back he's the one guy who alone brings final ratings

Kobe and the Lakers did not have the same impact. Of course lakers celtics did ratings but Lakers Magic was the lowest rated finals ever

Real problem is lack of parity imo. No bullshyt storyline can cover up the fact that everyone realizes by now that barring a major injury only 3, maybe 4 teams have any chance of winning. As such, regular season kinda loses meaning with a lot of casual fans unless some records are being broken.

There was no parity when the bulls were dominating and the nba had it's highest ratings then.It was basically who are the bulls gonna face in the finals for 5 years the only years of legit parity were 94 and 95.

The nba in general has always lacked parity the 80's that everybody loves to overrate had the same 5 teams make the finals for a decade

This has been a down year for the NBA so far.. Warriors are keeping it alive
Alive or killing it? As much as people want to talk about playing the game "the right way," viewers really want ball-dominant, supermen like Kobe who can do it all. Why people hated the Heat but tuned in hoping they lose AND they'd see multiple cross-court alley oops between Bron and Wade.
