Thousands are expected to attend illegal New Year raves in London despite the threat of £10,000 fines.
60 partygoers have been broken up by police after they were called to an unlicensed music event in Kemp Road, Chadwell Heath tonight.
Police said they dispersed the crowd and handed a £10,000 fine to the organiser of the rave.
In a tweet Barking and Dagenham police said: “We take the lives of all those within our communities seriously. We only intend to protect our communities & operate with Covid Tier 4 Legal Guidelines. Pls help us to help you, Stay Home, Stay Safe this NYE.”
It came as organisers advertised events on social media where partygoers are promised a bash at a secret location.
Those wishing to attend have to follow an Instagram account and provide proof of ID in private messages before being sold a ticket and told where to go. One of the biggest parties planned for tonight, known as the Good Vibez rave.
The organisers promise that the event will take place in a covered outdoor site.
Headlining the event according to the online flyer is Mutant with a garage set following music by Mark H Nostalgic, Myro and Casper. It is not clear if the acts intend to perform live or even if they know their names are being linked with the party.
Another party in the capital was promoted as ‘Good riddance 2020 NYE Special’ while a group known as Sunday Afters have been advertising illegal rave tickets at £30.
Organisers calling themselves Vox Sound adverised an ‘Acid in Wonderland New Years Secret Rave’ on instagram.
In a later post it said: “We are not allowed to have fun this year so we will be doing exactly just that.”
Many rave organizers have stopped advertising on social media as the high profile allows police to track them and shut down events.
The Metropolitan Police have warned revellers to stay at home and deployed extra officers to patrol the capital to catch out those breaking the rules.
