Their posturing basically. They know Mcconell isn't passing any more stimulus, and any leverage they might have had they gave it away early in the pandemic. It'll be interesting to see what happens, because evictions are starting up again after Dec 31, and the Cares Act is over the 31st, so the millions of people that couldn't get regular unemployment are now going to have zero money coming in overnight.
And with the evictions even if they try to delay that again by doing the moratorium, because people will still have to pay all their back rent, to avoid getting kicked out, but because their unemployed, and have no money coming in, their getting put thousands of dollars into a hole that they have no way of climbing out of.
Winter is getting super spooky and 2021 is not going to be good even if a vaccine comes out.
Pfizer mentioning a vaccine is coming ruined what little leverage Democrats had left as now Mitch definitely isn’t going close to $2 billion on the next stimulus.
The moratorium will get extended again until January/February when new Congress comes in. Eventually, the moratorium issue is going to come ahead when the banks come asking for a bailout or else. They’ll have no other choice but to do so or we will be in another recession. Student loan non-payment will likely get extended as well.
The worst part is that they wasted 5 months of bickering over the stimulus bill to now only still be in the exact situation except the person who is signed the bill changed.
