Georgia had a record amount of cases today. we finna be the next florida :picard:

I was fooled by the first month or so of opening. We in bad shape, they need to shut this bytch down again

I was visiting my parents in June in ATL and McDonough, the number of people not wearing masks was just :hhh:

White people wearing masks was about 20% and black people were no more than 40%.

I come back to Arlington, VA and 90% of people are wearing masks.

The difference In mask wearing was so fukking stark, it’s like I was visiting a foreign country.

science and more specifically our understanding of covid is constanty evolving. the more we learn the more thorough our understanding. doesnt make the work leading upto a new understanding less important.

I feel you but they have been late on numerous advancements regarding Covid before this and have taken lax stances as opposed to airing on the side of abundant caution which if things are unknown is ALWAYS the way a scientific organisation needs to advise the public and healthcare professionals.

There’s been data to suggest this since February, and I have been moving and advising those around me to assume this was the case since at least early March.

the above was an irresponsible stance to take and if people listened to them they would unnecessarily put themselves at risk.

Agency staff fielded several questions from reporters about transmission of the virus by air, prompted by an open letter from 239 experts calling on the agency to review its guidance. Many of the letter’s signatories have collaborated with the W.H.O. and served on its committees.

it should not have taken that for WHO to change their guidance on this issue.

(edit: to be clear my original statement was about the World Health Organisation not scientist at large)

I mentioned South Africa last week and looks like they bout to break into the top ten soon. Wonder which other countries will get a spike like that the rest of the summer. Looks like the US set a record in cases today if the info is correct. Looking at the deaths tho, I'm surprised that Florida is low compared to some other states. Even more so Texas with lower deaths and rate. Hopefully the death numbers decline some more.
