Sars had a high long term symptom rate.

For those not in the know, SARS outbreak happened in 2003. Below is the findings after 15 years.

Long-term bone and lung consequences associated with hospital-acquired severe acute respiratory syndrome: a 15-year follow-up from a prospective cohort study | Bone Research

Covid 19 is the same family of virus. Will be interesting to see what the long term effects are and if they are similar to SARS1.

Edit: added a different source since the previous one mostly talked about the psychiatric issues of SARS survivors. Link below for that below for those interested
Mental Morbidities and Chronic Fatigue in Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Survivors: Long-term Follow-up

Another article discussing long term effects. Notice some of the accounts of people who had SARS. They had some of the same experiences as Covid patients.

Ten years on - the mental and physical scars of Sars

Professor Henry Chan Lik-yuen, then a young doctor at Prince of Wales Hospital, also contracted the virus while carrying out duties in the same public hospital.

"I used to be physically fit as I had constantly worked out before the infection. But after I had been a patient, I could not even raise a bat. I would start panting after a two-minute walk", Chan said.
