What is it that the WHO is said to have done wrong?
Considering Trump blames Obama for not having tests for a disease that didn't exist during his presidency I'm ignoring what he has to say but are actual infectious disease experts laying blame at their hands?
I'm not trying to defend the WHO in any way I haven't followed this aspect of the story.

The WHO discouraged countries from stopping flights to and from China. The one thing that dummy Trump did right was looking into imposing travel restrictions to China in January.

They ignored Taiwan's warning of the spread and human to human transmission in December.

They sent out a tweet that there is no evidence of human to human transmission in mid-January.

They have yet to condemn China.

They delayed declaring it a pandemic.

Both Trump and WHO fukked up. It doesn't have to be one or the other.

This situation is the perfect excuse to have the government claim ownership of all business in the country. With the country being locked down and money being lost, nearly all these business will need at the least a loan from the govt. Govt may be partial owners of a large percentage of American business in the future.

Yep both are to blame. Yet you gonna have it split 50/50 we’re people who hate trump will solely blame trump and trump set that will only blame WHO, when in reality both fukked up

They know the country shouldn't reopen, but to not would be accepting a monumental shift in our countries economy.

Currently we're a capitalist society where individuals can own their business. With this incident and money not being made, majority of companies will be in financial ruin and need heavy govt loans and assistance to continue business once this ends.

Yeah and even so... Trump's "travel ban" contained way too many loopholes. An estimated 40,000 people traveled (direct flights) from China to the U.S. during the supposed "travel ban".

It's hard to imagine a more pathetic "leader" than Trump at the moment.

They waited too long to declare it a pandemic, shyt like that.

It's funny because my whole life I've been told the US has the most superior intelligence (they did warn about this in Nov) and all this jazz. Yet now we needed the WHO to escalate this for us to take it seriously

Intelligence is nothing more than information until it has been analyzed. It’s so much information floating around that you don’t always know when it becomes actionable. And sadly to say I’m almost positive nobody viewed this information as that serious. Just imagine how much information is briefed and the various types of information that is received daily. You always have new threats, current threats and someone has to prioritize all of this stuff in accordance with the priorities of national defense...shyt is a daunting task.

This whole thing boils down to hubris. China and WHO couldn't alert the world when Taiwan tried to blow the whistle. It would make the CCP and Xi look bad. The world couldn't listen to Taiwan because of the CCP's refusal to recognize Taiwan. Now Trump is acting too proud to answer reporters in America out of fear of looking bad. Hubris. Winnie the fukking Pooh and Trump's pride are fukking us hard... The crazy thing is, capitalism ain't shyt without the CCP though...

How are they allowed to roll those numbers under Covid-19? :wtf:

Because they don't have the tests to use on dead bodies at this point. There are lots of people dying from this that never make it to the hospital. Other states aren't testing people if they die at home either, some are reporting them as Covid and others aren't.

Trudeau saying anyone who's income is less than 1k a month is now eligible for the cerb

Got damn

just saw

https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/cerb-emergency-benefits-trudeau-1.5532767

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has announced more flexible rules for claiming the Canada emergency response benefit (CERB) in response to criticism the current regime excludes students and people working reduced hours.

He also announced a wage boost for essential workers who make less than $2,500 a month, including those working in long-term care facilities.

Seasonal workers and those who have recently run out of employment insurance will also now be eligible for CERB. People who make less than $1,000 a month due to reduced work hours will also qualify.

Trudeau outlined the expanded eligibility criteria during his daily briefing Wednesday outside his home at Rideau Cottage.

The government had previously taken heat from opposition parties and Canadians who were left out under the initial rules, which said a person must have lost all income for 14 consecutive days in the first month, then have zero income for subsequent months.

That omitted many students whose summer job plans are falling through, and people who are working reduced but regular hours. Trudeau has also promised to make a change so that essential workers, such as those working in long-term care facilities, aren't financially disadvantaged by working instead of collecting the CERB.

Legislation passed on the weekend on the separate business wage subsidy program also spoke to the need for measures to address gaps in the CERB.
