The only reason the virus might look to have been "tamed" to a slow thinker like you is because people are being mandated to stay inside. If we treated this as the seasonal flu, doing nothing to curb social interaction, society would collapse. The term "peaking" doesn't speak to the lethality of the virus and its contagiousness; it's in reference to its capacity to spread among the community, the peak usually reached when a sufficient number of citizens are practicing proper social distancing.
You're still not getting back summer, and will probably receive fall and winter in small increments, with society still shutdown to a degree. 2020 is a wrap. Get over it.
