Asians around the globe will forever be linked with this. Doesn’t matter where they are actually from, a lot of people will associate them with being disease ridden and eating all sorts of wild animals.

Not saying it’s right, but I get it. People are scared, and we don’t know wtf is actually going on. This is going to be much worse than Muslims were treated after 9/11. I actually feel a little bad for Asians because of what they will have to deal with...and this is coming from a black man in America.

New guidance for EMS in New York City and Long Island says that patients in cardiac arrest should not be transported to the hospital if they cannot be saved in the field.

City officials have released stark new guidance to equally overworked ambulance crews, effective immediately, if they can't resuscitate a patient in the field, they must withhold CPR and declare the person dead.

They can no longer continue to the hospital.

"These orders are binding and the FDNY will devise a plan for implementation," said Deputy Fire Commissioner Frank Dwyer.

The new approach shows how stretched thin EMS and hospitals are.

"When you're doing the CPR, you're pushing really hard on the patient's chest and they're expelling some air in the process as well, so if they are COVID patients, they'll be spreading it all around," said Dr. Vinayak Kumar with the Mayo Clinic. "This is the risk-benefit math you have to take into account."

The orders to stop CPR in the field is shocking to veteran doctors who are used to doing whatever it takes to save a life.

"As a doctor in New York and as a New Yorker, I have family that live here, and when I hear things like that I obviously get afraid, fearful for the livelihood of my family," Sutton said. "It is terrifying, it is really terrifying

When this was happening in China people were saying "They cremating the bodies to hide the true number of death". It's kinda ironic that US and other countries are also doing it now.
Wait what

China wouldnt need to burn bodies to hide numbers.....they'd just give bullshyt numbers and call it a day

Everyone is burning bodies bevause they're crawling with the virus

So if 60 million people get this virus in whatever time frame they’re discussing it still leaves roughly 270 million who never got it and are vulnerable.

Under these circumstances I don’t see any way you can have things like concerts, sporting events or especially free for alls like any type of festival like event. Any event where people mingle has a huge risk of setting off another flurry of cases.

Obviously society can’t stay locked down indefinitely but when it comes back it will be with strict guidelines of how many people can congregate and super at risk people like the elderly and diabetics and whatnot will have to basically self isolate to a big degree. Can’t have your kids at daycare or school and then go visit 75 year old grandma.....

Until a virus is developed and widely produced and administered which is gonna take a long time to do life is gonna be very different.
Maybe a trivial point but I wonder how the barber shop dynamic will change getting a cut may be a hostile experience. The amount of brehs not wanting to cut anybody will probably be crazy refusing to open even when the lockdown conditions are relaxed or if are brave enough to work needing fresh masks each day. We may be wolfing for a while beyond this lockdown :wow:

No doubt even Africans who are arguably the most accepting people are out there practicing their own asianphobia. Chinese restaurants will never be the same again many will be forced to close.

Whilst I sympathize with their predicament... it feels like all these nurses are trying to go viral and parlay this into a go-fund me hustle.

RNs already make good money and I doubt they'd risk their license and hard work from going to school for 4 years to hustle the internet for charity.

They quitting because Agent Orange won't supply them with the proper equipment to care for these folks. Risking their lives and their families lives ain't worth it and I don't blame them.

Come on bruh

Nothing wrong with quitting. These dramatic selfie soliloquies come across as contrived. Just quit and move on.
