Blue Beetle would be great but it should honestly be Static. Static would be a PERFECT teenage hero for the DC multiverse and his powers translate very well to multiple tones.

Came in here to say the same thing. Static is the closest anybody has come to capturing that same magic that exists with Peter Parker as Spider-Man.

DC is never going to slot him into that role though because they don't own Static. Any time they use Static they have to give the Milestone guys a cut.

Blue Beetle is a huge success if only because he had a steep mountain to climb. White DC fanboys were heavily against the character when he debuted. They literally treated it as if a Mexican character had taken a white mans job. It took Jaime appearing in other media to really give him a strong foothold in DC.

Milestone has typically had a publishing/Distribution deal with DC/WB. The show was spearheaded by one of the characters creators Dwayne McDuffie.

Static, Icon, and Rocket are all owned by Milestone. Theoretically they could take those characters to another publisher if they wanted.

The reason you saw Static and other characters appearing in WB/DC animation is because Dwayne had a better working relationship with the animation department. McDuffie wrote a bunch of episodes of Static, 3 full length animated features (All Star Superman, Justice League Doom, League of Two Worlds), and did some of the best Justice League and Justice League unlimited episodes and just had a great working relationship with Bruce Timm and Alan Burnett.

The only reason the Static cartoon ever got canceled was because nobody would make toys for the series, and without the toys they couldn't afford to produce the show any longer, which is crazy because it was the highest rated show on Kids WB, even outperforming Pokemon.
