a gaming system (and most modern computers) is the culmination of so much human knowledge, that I don't think any one person could do it all

even super knowledgeable engineer types are gonna need to rely on pre-made capacitors, diodes, chips, wires, etc

Well, there is Raspberry Pi, which you could technically use to make a low powered console. That's about as bare bones as you're gonna get.


And people do make their own consoles. Look at all the cool portables groups of people made in the past.

It would be a cool project to be apart of, to be honest.
