Could you have seen William Regal as a top heel in the 90’s?

Naw he was always going to be mid card during that era. His best chance would have been 2010s

For some reason I thought he was the world champion some time in the 00’s.

I just googled it and I was wrong. I been stopped watching wrestling by then. I heard about a bunch of guys I used to watch later becoming champ like Eddie Guerrero and Edge and I thought Regal was one of them for some reason. That’s why I put 90’s in the thread title.

No, he was a good utility player who stayed over with whatever goofy gimmicks he got, and that's worth something, but I can't see him vs any real top guy ever drawing.

He actually looked set to at least get a main event run with maybe HHH or Cena in the late 2000s, but he failed a drug test and got depushed. He was over at the time but he had a gimmick where he was turning all the lights out in the arena, so it's hard to say how over he really was.

Regal should have became the WWE Champion after he won the King of the Ring the uncrowned champion
