I'm constantly amazed at how this board manages to repackage the same debate several times a week...

Bird was a better scorer. Bird had a better post game, mid range game, and was a better outside shooter. Lebron is better at getting to the line, but Bird played in a more physical era. Bird was a better rebounder, but back then teams shot the ball more creating more rebound opportunities. This year with Lebron playing some time at the 4, he got more rebounds. Bird and Lebron are pretty much equal when it comes to passing. Lebron is a much better defender than Bird was, and one of the best defenders in the league. But Bird wasn't that God awful at defense as some people make him out to be. Bird had better teammates, but he also faced better competition. Lebron is still young and will only be 28 this year. If he keeps this up he will be better than Bird. When Lebron has that outside shot/mid range game going, there is not a damn thing anyone can do to stop him. Lebron's shooting percentage gets better as he gets older and that's a scary thing for opponents.
