no. hearns and hagler were dogs. most guys today are not dogs. i remember george foreman was asked about the difference between fighting guys in two different eras and he said that these guys today are just not as mean. i know what he means.

I'd have to agree with this. Dudes from that era actually wanted to put a hurting on each other.

exactly.

It used to be where, you had like 1 friend in the division that you tried not to fight, but nowadays nikkas is BFF's with the whole top 10 contenders for they division.

Just think about it...We'll never see Alexander, Peterson, and Broner fight each other and all these nikkas are round the same weight. I'm not saying we missing out on Gatti/Ward with that crew, but it's just crazy where you know not to even suggest those fights.

Canelo has the 160lb strap. He's always been a 154-156lb fighter. Canelo is the A-side in negotiations with ggg. Canelo isn't scary of ggg, he just isn't a full 160 yet. When he is, (or when ggg's team cave to 156 whichever happens first) he'll fight mc eiht.

In terms of excitement I doubt it, you would need two high profile fighters to put their wellbeing on the line and there are few that are willing to do so.

Golovkin seems like he will risk it all but then when he faced someone who could possibly hurt him (Lemeiux) he boxed smartly. Don't see it happening

Foreman has a point. Fighters of today are cut from a different cloth than the ones of the past. Back in the golden age of WW's and MW's these dudes welcomed fighting one another in their primes to see who was the alpha dog.

100% both know each other too well from having sparred as well as knowing what a win/loss will do to go out and throw leather like Hagler/Hearns. Back then whilst money was a factor, the want to be the best seemed the key to fights. Now promoters, manager and some fighters are too worried about losses and what it will do to a fighters rep and future earning power

Because they know what will happen, obviously Canelo was young but GGG used to have his way with him in sparring.

It's ok that he lost to Floyd, he was young and they called it a learning experience but for him to lose again, to a Kazakh that claims to fight 'Mexican style', could be damaging. It shouldn't be because it's not like GGG is a bum. Losing to Lara would have hurt him, but losing to GGG shouldn't.
