a straight remake would not be good but you could definitely use the themes and imagery of the film as an influence for a dark film that explores similar ideas (blurring of ethical lines, capacity of humans to witness horrible things)
if you want something approximating the feeling of going through a journey of largely natural environments and fighting an unseen enemy afghanistan would probably work better. it has more diverse environments and the fighting was a bit more rural than the more urban combat in Iraq. in both conflicts theres a similar “why are we really here” sentiment so that could carry over.
im still waiting for a really good film about this era of war.
Isnt the movie based on a conrad novel? Idk where the book was set but it wasnt in vietnam
No point in remaking great movies. They should remake te shyt ones
it was set in the Congo. the book itself isnt really a “war” one, Kurtz is an ivory trader.
