this is not going to happen. floiyd pretty much already said that his next fight will be vs. whoever he wants to fight & that the fighter will be "competitive". the "mega fights" - cotto, canelo, maidana rematch, pacquiao - and he just wants to be done with it.

Mayweather vs. Josesito Lopez coming Sept. 2015, people.

Like I said in the main boxing thread:

Is it really a mega-fight though? I haven't seen anything from Cotto that makes me believe he will be any more successful against Floyd than he was the last time. I know I have no interest in it at all.
Cotto needs to just stop running away from Cinnamon and get prepared for that whooping in the fall.

For the mw lineal title:troll:

i agree for the most part but cotto looked sharp as fukk his last fight..even tho old boy had terrible legs and was washed..that was a sad sight..but cotto looked like he upgraded his tech ability in that fight...just remains to be seen how much it was due to who he was fighting

Floyd ain't fighting middleweight..Cotto would have to come back down. But why doesn't he want to fight Canelo? What's the big deal?

They could push it as one with the Middleweight title on the line and with Floyd going up so much in weight. But I don't want to see it again and I am sure most real boxing fans don't either.

That's going to come with any fight Mayweather chooses, the notion of another fight against Cotto is wishful on the part of Cotto's handlers
I don't "think" Mayweather would fight Cotto again anyway, 'cause after his 1st fight with Cotto, he said something along the lines of... "Damn, that motherfukker was tough. That motherfukker made me want to retire." He said this on film. I'll post the video once I find it.

Could be all the titles being vacated and everyone trying to figure out who is going to vie for what. Some boxers are one or two in line for a title shot of some sort so they and their promoters have to figure what fight(s) are best. idk. It might not be as simple right now as Cotto simply not wanting to but I could be wrong...plus Canelo is fighting this weekend so maybe they wait on what happens to make an announcement.

When they hugged at the end, Mayweather told Cotto, "You are a hell of a champion — the toughest guy I fought."
