But you’ll never get promoted/placed in a position of authority (you’ll have your few outliers/exceptions, but those were very carefully selected folks who are over qualified and only there for optics sake).

It's not a move backwards for certain demographics. The whole point of the changes has to do with preserving resources and opportunities for themselves. It's only a backwards move for the have nots.

People are asking like it's something new when it isn't. Colleges have been benefiting and favoring immigrants cause they pay out-of-state tuition. Large employers favor them cause it's an added layer of control considering they sign their work visas. I will say as a people, they specifically targeted STEM and it paid dividends. However, the conversation isn't had about all of the benefactors of immigration in this case.
