Who would have imagined....

Conclusion from the research...it looks paywalled, so I won't overdo the quoting, but I could pull bits from it if anyone's got questions.

This study shows that the public health measures taken in the states with Democratic governors were on average 10 percentage points stricter over most of 2020. According to the model, these additional 10 percentage points in policy stringency reduced the expected number of COVID-19 cases by about 8%.

These conclusions reinforce and extend the findings of Neelon and colleagues1 that application of public health policy was politicized. This information further supports the need for delegating public health policymaking to health professionals.

But good news, the Neelon research referenced in this conclusion is freely available:
Associations Between Governor Political Affiliation and COVID-19 Cases, Deaths, and Testing in the U.S. - ScienceDirect

Here's just the conclusion from that one, but interested heads can click the link and read it through
These findings suggest that governor political party affiliation may differentially impact COVID-19 incidence and death rates. Attitudes toward the pandemic were highly polarized in 2020.6, 7, 8,21, 22, 23 Future state policy actions should be guided by public health considerations rather than by political expedience24 and should be supported by a coordinated federal response within the new presidential administration.

:francis: think I caught it some how brehs and I'm scared as shyt

took a test at CVS today. I got a cough, fatigue, dizziness and my sense of taste slowly going away all day. No fever, no chills yet

40 year old, out of shape but not obese, vaccinated with moderna 4 or 5 months ago, how much trouble am I in?
You'll be fine. I work with 2 Moderna breakout cases, neither had any serious symptoms, only mild cold like symptoms for 1-2 days. Both appeared to have lost their sense of taste for a brief period before it came back.

I had similar symptoms and took several tests that also came back negative. Also moderna gang. My doc reminded me other viruses are around, and it's been a worse allergy season than usual
