Good to know. Glad me, my daughter and my lady live in the most humid state in America. Florida good for some things.

Everything I said is just from preliminary information so far - there's a ton to be learned about how this particular virus updates. Considering that damn near everyone operates in AC and climate control a lot of the time and people traveling back and forth from state to state regularly, it could still potentially spread in warmer places too, even if it ain't as "likely" as in the cooler regions. And a lot of times random shyt just happens.

The early epidemiology models predicted that Thailand would be the 2nd place to get hit hard, as there's so much travel constantly between China and Bangkok. Yet all of Thailand has only had 80 cases (half of those have recovered) and 1 death so far. Whereas Iran and Italy don't have nearly as much travel from China yet are at nearly 2000 deaths combined now.

On the other hand, the Philippines is just as warm and wet as Bangkok and they've had 8 deaths. That could just be because they had a bunch of folk working on the cruise ships and in China and they all got sick outside of the island. But we'll see.

Back at work today. I work on the strip so I know I'm already never going to work from home. So far walking in the place looks empty. Usually on a Saturday morning, we have a ton of drinks stumbling around, party girls and hookers and I haven't seen any of that yet. But one bar I walked by was packed and nobody was keeping their distance

Usually deadly new viruses emerge out equatorial Africa, the Amazon basin and southeast Asia, especially the rainforests because the warm, wet climate that teems with biological activity is conducive to rapid mutation. That’s why you see so many terrible plagues in those regions...Dengue, yellow fever, malaria, sleeping sickness, ebola, hontavirus, etc.

To see a pandemic originate out of the middle of Eurasia and do most of its damage on old whites and Asians is...different. I’ll just leave it at that.

House Passes Families First Coronavirus Response Act

March 14, 2020
Press Release
WASHINGTON — The House today passed, on a bipartisan 363-40 vote, the Families First Coronavirus Response Act to bolster the federal government’s response to the coronavirus outbreak and address the severe impacts of the coronavirus on Americans’ personal safety and financial security.

The legislation reflects bipartisan agreement between House Democrats and the Trump administration. It guarantees free coronavirus testing, secures paid emergency leave, enhances Unemployment Insurance, strengthens food security initiatives, and increases federal Medicaid funding to states.

“Our top priority in this public health emergency must be providing support to the American people,” said House Appropriations Committee Chairwoman Nita M. Lowey (D-NY). “The Families First Coronavirus Response Act will help ensure the physical safety and financial security of our nation’s working families during this time of crisis. With this bill, we can provide paid leave, guarantee free testing, and enhance important benefits for children and families.”

The Families First Coronavirus Response Act builds on an $8.3 billion emergency coronavirus spending package enacted into law on March 6.

The text of the Families First Coronavirus Response Act, H.R. 6201, is here (110 pages). A summary of H.R. 6201 is here (10 pages).
