So here in the Netherlands the government announced a curfew starting yesterday from 9PM to 4:30PM with the goal to slow down spread of the more contagious strain. Today the first protests started and of course it was a bet to see which city would escalate first.

For the most part yes. Also, Dutch culture is low-key inbedded with Hooligan culture. So most of the vandalism comes from hooligans using these protests to cause trouble, and it's picked up by other people feeling angry.

I fear for our elections next year. It feels more and more like we are going to get our own Trump wake-up call and deal with right wing populist nutjobs in power for four years.
