This is what I don’t get. Trump could’ve responded appropriately like any other president to the virus and looked like a hero by taking the appropriate steps to reduce transmission rates. Instead of down playing ignoring etc. is this the biggest political misstep of all time?

They won’t. They’ll call Biden a tyrant for whatever measures he takes. A friend of mine’s uncle and aunt got covid because they’re Trump tard evangelicals who bragged about not wearing masks. Now they’re both in the hospital

It reveals many things about trump. Hes protecting the stock market or trying to, he's purposely putting Americans at risk, he's actively and knowing lying and spreading disinformation about a deadly virus etc. But its not a misstep though, it even goes beyond incompetence. Its much more demonic at its roots. Its a man who is unwilling to do the right thing. No matter what.

Wouldn’t responding appropriately boost the stock market more than the denial spiral? That’s another aspect I don’t get. I get that the stock market was the #1 thing Trump was protecting but wouldn’t eradicating or lessening the impact of the virus do more for the market than denying and obfuscation?

We may never know what's going on in the head of that mentally unstable man. He's every human flaw in one person. He does everything possible to make things worse. He's an agent of chaos.
