I like Mega but he spent a lot of his career mentioning or attacking Nas so he can't be mad at shyt like this. I remember that long ass DVD he had back in the day and big chunks of that was spent attacking Nas. This dude was looking out at the ocean talking about Nas, it looked weird as fukk :mjpls:
I remember that shyt too, breh is tight about being asked/known for Nas in 2005 and they're still asking him the same shyt in 2025 :manny: :mjlol:

Nobody knew this nikka outside of Queens before Nas shouted him out and he should be kissing his ass every chance he gets instead of spreading this bullshyt on the internet 35 years after the fact.

I get what Mega is trying to say, he was on wax in 91 same year as Nas, but to act like he isn't well known because of him is disingenuous.
He was on wax in 89, and he had a deal and woulda dropped before Nas had he not get locked up, theres no telling how big he woulda been had he dropped when he shoulda, he coulda had 3-4 projects released by the time Illmatic dropped.

People knew Mega as a street dude, not no damn rapper.

His career in music literally came from Nas speaking on him. He was not buzzing in no damn New York. Large Professor didn't know about Mega. Nas took Mega to Large Professor! HAHA! Paul said he met Mega because when he was working with Nas, Nas told him that his man raps too, and he took him over to see him. Marley said the same.

Nas wanted him to do IWW with him, like he did Mama Said Knock You Out with LL. When they started working on the album, they did a demo version of "On The Real" with just Nas on it. Marley met Mega through Nas. And then Mega and the other dude hopped on the record without Nas's permission and then Marley started playing it on Future Flavaz as a Nas joint and Nas wasn't happy about that because he didn't say other people could be on the record. Marley leaked his own sh*t. And that's why Marley got booted from working on IWW. So every look that Mega had back then, was literally because of Nas, yet he's acting like he created buzz on his own, lol. He didn't start rapping because of Nas, but he had nothing popping before Nas looked out for him.

im a huge mega fan but he was in jail for 4 years lol
whatever buzz he may have had before that, which was probably decent at best, would of been completely over by the time he got out if it wasn't for Nas. No one was thinking about him.

Hip hop changed drastically between 1991-1995. No one woulda been checking for him
So you think the line "what up with Mega have you seen him are yawl together" somehow sent the Nas fans into a frenzy and they sought out to find this mysterious Mega character who they didn't even know was a rapper and the somehow made the correlation that he must be the same as bubbling mixtape rapper Cormega and then campaigned to get him a deal with Def Jam??

Disagree.
Queensbridge blew up at that time because of Nas and Mobb Deep. Lot of buzz for artists from there, even those who were out before Illmatic, like Tragedy/Khadafy.

When the fans and industry are checking for your hood's sound, its easier to shop demo and get a deal.
Not to mention you have industry ppl that fukked with Mega walking him into important rooms.

You don't see Drag-On saying he'd have a rap career without DMX. I mean it is what it is appreciate you got that lift.
But Testament tho shelved and Realness are both after he was beefing with Nas so make it make sense...if anything nas was actively hindering Mega career behind the scenes during these years.

Mega sounding emotional as hell.

That's ego.

AZ is a legend. And was clearly rapping way before "Life's a B*tch", and wasn't even looking for a deal. He was in the street. But he never has an issue with crediting Nas for helping him get on. Mega never mentions that when he came home, he was acting mad entitled and burning bridges. He wanted red carpet treatment, while other established artists who actually had projects out at the time they started working on The Firm sh*t, were mad humble and just working on music 24/7, for the team. He sabotaged his own sh*t.

Insignificant posting from an insignificant poster
Crazy that Def Jam handed him the masters to the Testament.

Glad it was officially released.

But man, the impact it woulda made had it released as originally planned.

Altho i think the landscape in 98 was either super underground or major commercial.

But if def jam could release a hard core ass onyx album in 98, they could have done the same for Corey

.
