This happens to rich white people all the time. If you don't pay a debt and you're found liable in civil court the police are allowed to issue a search and seize order. nikka should've paid his debt to save himself the embarrassment.

Why would this be strange? The article said they won a court judgement. What power does a ruling in a court of law or equity have if the state won't enforce it?

This is the first time I have heard of seizures to collect private debt. Usually they use civil methods like garnishing of wages etc to satisfy debt.
