That’s because the taxes in Nassau are WOAT. A few years back my parents were renting a 1700 square foot house with a tiny garage disconnected from the house with no pool and it’s property taxes were $12,000 a year. Car insurance rates in the city are WOAT status too. Brooklyn in particular. With no crashes or tickets on my record, the lowest rate I can get at 29 years old for a new Maxima is $365 a month to insure the car. The family minivan is 13 years old with 176,000 miles and they want $181 a month compared to the $74 a month they’d want by my grandparents house. In fact, the lowest rate I’ve gotten offered on anything besides a minivan has been $282 a month . The cost of everything is a fortune out here compared to the suburbs out of state.

In the Bay you'll pay prices like that to live in the hood. I'm originally from Lakeview, SF. Those houses built in the 40's selling for a mil and up. A lot of those houses were dope dens and traphouses. But random folks still getting murked outside every year. It ain't nowhere near as bad as the 80's or 90's but shyt still get fonky. And they'll kill literally anybody over there. The jects on 200 block is still there too and Sunnydale is still standing so the funk and associated violence ain't going nowhere.

Im in east bay. I used 2 live in Vallejo when I was a kid & when we moved i used2 always go bac & hang in tha crest. I dont go 2 tha V at all no more, loyalty & trust problems. Now im like 30 mins away tho. & yea these prices gettin crazy but a nicca gotta grind & have multiple incomes. Hopefully this shyt dont get worse. I'll b 26ina few years

You can get a decent 1 bedroom spot up in the BX for $1300 a month close to the 1, 4 and D train lines. The BK rent prices developers are putting up are becoming outrageous.
