Not betting against dude, but I don’t think he’s some generational player to carry a team. I can’t see him being more of a factor than someone like Banchero or Chet who’re just bigger versions.
Considering the hype, yes, underperforming because there have been other college players who have challenged and are challenging going #1 now. Dude isn’t a surefire #1 honestly, but now it’s moved to the point of what a team may favor compared to the other players.
I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a trade down from #1 come draft time, which I think a smart team might do: land Harper or Jakucionis and a ton of future assets for the next few loaded drafts. I honestly think that’s the best move this year if you have pick #1: let a team give up their future for Cooper Flagg, then go shopping on Boozer, Dybsanta, Peat, Alijah, Tyran, etc.
