The tricky thing to me is I don’t know if any proven coaches will come here and I don’t think this front office knows how to identify a young talented coach that needs a shot.

Maybe I’m wrong but so far Ham proves me right. People like to discredit Phil because he had ATGs on his teams but you still have to know what you’re doing to get the most out of those players.

A young talented coach can’t coach in this environment. Most experienced coaches are either retreads or entrenched with their current franchises. Mark Jackson was Brons choice but he’s got those gay comments lingering over his head. Darvin Ham is struggling but let’s not forget how much respect he has around the league. Damn near everyone enthusiastically vouched for him. Who knew he’d be this bad. There’s really no options.

You’re right

That was what made Dr. Buss special!

He knew how to identify those people!

That’s real, I mean I brought up Phil because he was that rare instance of a coach that was ready to deal with that level of pressure.

There’s no one out there that I can think of. Rick Carlisle or Nick Nurse would be great for now and the long term but we not getting either of them. Honestly, considering that they ended up canning Vogel they should’ve just hired Lue in the first place.

What coach were they supposed to break the bank to hire?

Not really worth discussing because the situation is dysfunctional. Russ, AD, Phil, LeBron, Klutch, Rob, Magic, Kurt and Linda, etc. I don't know that any coach can succeed given these circumstances. You have too many people pulling in too many different directions.

Facts, it’s like you’d need a coach with an equally oversized presence with the ability to match. It’s kinda like how Phil or Pat were the only ones who could’ve signed on with the Shaq/Kobe Lakers. There’s no coach like that out there in general let alone one that’ll be able to handle this unique situation.

I don't know that Phil or Pat could manage the LeBron-machine and Russ and have to deal with input from Jeannie’s advisors and Rob desperate to save his job. That's a gigantic ask.

My inclination is to say blow it up. But say you get rid of Russ, Bron, and AD. You still have Jeannie as the owner, Kurt and Linda still there, Phil and Magic still there. But maybe it would be easier to manage without Bron/Klutch/Russ.

I've always got the impression that Jeannie would rather lose with superstars than be mid with stars and role players. It's impossible to imagine the Lakers with someone like Tyrese Haliburton as their beat player.

Perhaps not, and in the case of Pat yeah maybe we already saw how long he could last in that. But my point is that you’d need someone that’s not just a great coach but a master of ego management.

Yeah, I don’t know if Jeanie wants Bron’s tenure to end badly she might feel like it reflects badly on the franchise long term. I see us trading AD in an attempt to remake the roster first unless Bron himself wants out.

This mindset is why we are where we are & will continue to be.

It’s a different league & we need to adapt

Zero chance we ship AD while Bron is here. Klutch & the team put too much into getting him.

Pride is a mf

It's not just Jeanie. It's the fanbase too. When we had our young players, no one was willing to be patient and let them grow. It's impossible to rebuild here. Tyrese Haliburton wouldn't make it mentally here. A lot of guys fold under the bright lights. It's a big reason why I wanted to see guys like Ingram leave because I knew he would never thrive here.
