We need this album!

I think Conway was playing more shyt last night on IG,

Not only that but the whole sample situation as well. The Em verse. I mean... it was what it was. I have so many questions though.
What sample situation?

The reason we didn’t get Hall and Nash 2 back in 2018 is largely because they couldn’t get samples cleared. So some of its songs (like Fork in the Pot, Judas, and Rey Mysterio) had to drop in other places. At this point the album is no longer tied up with Shady and should drop independently this year. Gunn was on Instagram saying something about a September 11th releases date this year, as a tribute to NY or something like that. But the album has been redone and is definitely not going to be the original version, which was recorded almost 4 years ago. We’ll essentially be getting Hall and Nash version 2.1.

On WWCD they decided to not even have to run into this problem by choosing to not even bother using any samples. They had Beat Butcha play his own music and sounds for Daringer to chop up and make beats with. Every track was produced that way, and that’s why some people think it sounds a little less varied and vibrant than some of their other projects.

Conway is dropping God Don’t Make Mistakes on Shady. The tracklist is out there and the album is full of samples. No one has indicated there are sample clearance problems causing delays, but I’ve heard a couple of insider rumors that they have been having some issues. But Conway is adamant that GDMM be released how he wants it to sound.

This project King to a God isn’t dropping on Shady and is just going to drop like how most of their stuff dies.

Wow thanks for the run down on all that, for real.
Damn that's some bullshyt. Whats the point in being on a major when they not clearing the samples for you anyway :francis: Shady really isn't doing much for them it seems like. With that said I hope they are able to figure it out. Maybe they can use samples that are easier to clear in advance or stuff that is royalty free in the first place. Maybe they can work with some other producers who make their beats from scratch or perhaps even do what they did with WWCD but get different musicians and not just beat butcher alone but a few different people so that Daringer has different sounds he can sample from and so that the project sound fuller and has a wider range of sounds.

I definitely agree. The good news is that I really believe that after God Don’t Make Mistakes that there won't be anymore projects with Shady. Benny and Gunn are with Roc Nation, and Conway seems frustrated with Shady. And absolute work case scenario would be he walks and drops GDMM on his own. I think we’ll get to hear it as intended.

Oh I thought it was like Gunn and Conway signed to Shady but they were all managed by Roc Nation. At the end of the day I hope you're right and we get to hear Conway's record as is and if they can't work it out then hopefully shady will accept something else and be willing to release a different project to satisfy their contractual agreement.

Clearing samples is a pain in the ass and would probably cost more than what the album would generate in return financially.

That's true, I hear you which is why it would be better if they could get musicians together that they sample or work on using samples on only a few tracks for their official shady releases.
