Chicago's own Toronzo Cannon
People take for granted how toxic some of our music can be to our psyche. Especially when it's the only music they listen to.Breh, you and me both.
I had a homeboy, heavy on religion, that would always get on me about the music i listened too. Would tell me to be careful of the music I allow into my subconscious. I been thinking about that a lot lately, and trying to censor my music. I’m going to get more into our blues, soul, gospel, old r&b music, and cut back on the rap.

Right on, bro. Right on.That shyt hit!
Yeah, it's a shame how diverse our music is, yet how limited our taste are.
Yea, I actually hate that. That shyt hit!

Elmore James - It Hurts Me Too
Leadbelly - Where Did You Sleep Last Night
R.L. Burnside: See My Jumper Hanging On The Line (1987)
Yea, I actually hate that.
I listen to Blues, Jazz, Folk, Funk etc. (ONLY BY BLACK PEOPLE THOUGH)
All of this beautiful music we've created and we don't even listen to it. I just found out about more Black American Rock/Metal bands.
We really do make the best music, Breh.
Yea, my bad. This thread is dope, I didn't know any NEW AGE BLUES artists, but this thread is introducing me to them though.Nothing but love for them legends, especially Leadbelly's Texas blues & RL's Hillcountry blues, but this thread is to highlight *contemporary*(current) blues artist who're helping keep our music alive, so lets try to keep the post centered around that.
But, your post does give me an idea to post some contemporary hill country artist. So, thanks for the input bruh.
Man our music history is so rich beyond belief if you really think about it to come from a group that make up less than %1 of the global pop. And you'd be surprised to find out how many diverse Afr'Am artist there are out there making music that don't get the attention they deserve. It's really a helluva eye opening experience to discover all of them and have to make a bunch of room in your playlist for all the new shyt you found.
Speak of black metal/rock artist(since we kinda already off topic lol) have you ever heard Kami's metal type songs? shyt lit.
I was already thinking of making multiple spin off of this thread for Jazz, Funk, Rock, Electro/EDM etc etc
Been bumping this for most of the weekend, straight classic
