Used to love buying consoles back in the day...back when devs had very little money to work with but still developed full games. A time where DLC was on the wishlist alongside "Mortal Kombat vs Street Fighter" in Junior High School banter. And that lasted for a while..Dreamcast had "DLC" but it was more a fanservice affair, it wasn't until Xbox decided to pack shyt you used to be able to unlock just by playing the game (Costumes, stages , weapons, etc) that I knew it was gonna be the facepalm of the century...Half complete AAA titles, nickel and dime skins , and "season" passes.

And so the exodus continues gentlemen, those seeking the promise land aka the Nassau of video games, will join the PC community due to piracy, because in this "final hour" of gaming, I'd like to know I wasn't swindled and smiling about it, I'd like to know I rebelled even in the slightest, against what are now corporations looking out for themselves.
:camby: fukk outa here with this revisionist history.

In reality games are cheaper and more complete than they have ever been and if one gets released "broken" its usually fixed free of charge. Back in the day broken games were released and that was it, you owned a broken game.

While I agree there are some money grubbing practices that should be addressed, this idea that's shyt is just all fukked and unfair now, while everything was perfect then is just not true

fukk outta here with that conformist comment.

In reality games are not cheaper, I include the price of DLC and season passes with said games. And then there's the online service you have to pay for if you want to go online. Mind you, Dreamcast was doing this shyt for free. Its turned into big business, and while that means "bigger" games, it also means you will be nickel and dimed with every game made. When they literally sold the ending of a game for DLC (Army of Two; 40th day):ohlawd: I figured gamers would catch on. Then there's the "10" or so Street Fighter 4's released before 5....:snoop: C'mon son, at some point you have to know that's your ass getting fukked repeatedly. While everything was definitely not perfect back then (as I addressed), it wasn't the rape over it is now. :sas2:

No. Sega games were the same $60 if not more 15-20 years ago. Name ANY product that has stayed the same price over 20 years. Adjusting for inflation gaming is cheap as fukk compared to the past.

Dreamcast online was trash and sega didn't make nearly the investment in the infastructure to make online gaming a reality. You think Sony/Microsoft shouldn't try to recoup the millions they put in?

There is no nickel and diming. DLC is optional, if you like the game and want more you can buy more. That's a simple and fair proposition. It becomes unfair when things like army of two happens and those should be called out and not supported, but that doesn't mean all games are nickeling and diming you.

There's been 10 different versions of EVERY street fighter game being sold at full price. So you have no point there.

There is no "rape over"

As I posted before, I'm including the price of a season, pass, and DLC's. Altogether its easily over $100. Games are far more expensive now, even on whole sale(tax included). Dreamcast did what AAA companies are doing now, except for free, it flourished in Japan as expected, just not in the states, and again, its success wasn't my point, the fact that they dived in and provided free internet and DLC was. The good side of DLC, not the nickel and dime of today. As for Sony and MS recouping? are you intentionally that dense? You do know they make billions right? As in with game revenue alone they could give away systems for free if they wanted to and still make a profit. Recoup? that's just ridiculous, you sir need to do some research.

And yes, obviously not all game companies are nickel and diming , however, the majority are, and that's the problem. It's become a trend to put on the snake oil salesman attire and fukk the customer right up the ass. Which is why I enjoy developers like CDProjekt Red, who have already stated that any and all DLC will be free. My main gripe with DLC is that most of the time, its an unlock code for data already in the files ala The Psycho and Gaige in Borderlands 2. That's just sleazy business right there. For some games, nothing is even developed, just another 20 or so dollars to unlock the info.

Lastly, there is a rape over, people just like defending said practices because they either have hope DLC will improve, or don't want to admit that they're supporting a very fukked system, either way, DLC is less of a shiny unicorn, and more of turd sandwich, sure you could eat it...but its always gonna make you sick.

$60 in 1990 is equivalent to over a hundred bucks today. And its unfair to add DLC to that price anyway. Now gamers have a choice to spend less and get much more.

Dreamcast flourished nowhere

The Internet was free but not near the quality of today. Same goes for dlc. You get more now so you pay more, but even adding that money in gaming is still cheaper today than ever.

No, they don't make billions, and they definitely couldn't give systems away and make money.

You sound real stupid here.

They could give systems away, sell cheap games, and offer free Internet and still make a profit?:stopitslime:

No. The majority aren't. And no most DLC isn an unlock code for stuff already on the disc.

You're speaking total nonsense here. :smh:

No. You just have no idea what you are talking about and "DLC" has become a dirty word to you. For every game that does DLC bad, there's 5 that do it right. You just wanna pay attention to one side of the story.

when you pay a subscription fee for them? :mjlol:

The subscription fee is for online multiplayer. The games are free with the subscription.

By this logic you could say that online multiplayer is free and the subscription is for the games.

In realty tge subscription fee encompasses all you get with it. You can't pick and choose what you deem "free"

The price of Xbox Live wasn't raised when free games were added. You didn't always get the "games with gold" that's a recent thing. Hence the games are free with the subscription.

PS+ is the exact opposite. Games first, then paid online.

So are you saying for XBL the games are free but for PS+ the online is free?
