For me - it was an 8/8.5. Beautifully shot. Script/ story wise it was a twist on 'the coming of age' story, that I've personally never seen before. I would recommend it.
i’m enjoying this movie! i can’t wait to see what caleb mclaughlin’s future has in store for him — i think he’ll go far. i also love seeing black people with the horses and the history behind it.
Saw this yesterday and really enjoyed it. I live in Philly so I recognized a lot of the locations where this was filmed and I like that the director used a lot of non actors from Philly, made it feel way more authentic. The director’s production company also hires people who were previously incarcerated to give them a second chance.
I remember a few years ago on July 4th when I was walking to Ben Franklin Parkway and I caught a bunch of people riding horses in the middle of the street lol. But there’s an entire culture and history there that the movie does a good job capturing
I thought the best scenes were when the kid was handing out with the Black cowboys. They felt almost like a documentary. Weakest scenes were when he was hanging with his childhood friend who was into the street life, they felt cliched.
This is a great movie, sad what happened towards the end, but overall was good. Would definitely like to see more Black Cowboy Films. Shout out to Lee Daniels I think he had an awakening after the past backlash he received and running down on him to do more than give us that fruity lifestyle he's apart of.
I loved this movie. Beautifully shot and acted while focusing on an under-reported part of black culture.
Now hopefully the buzz from this movie will spur people to donate to the The Fletcher Street Urban Riding Club so they can keep doing what they've been doing for the last 100 years without having to constantly be worrying about funding.

Yea I agree and I was trying the same thing. I hope all the real people in this film (that actually did a great job acting) definitely got some decent pay days and I hope there is gonna be some great funding for them to help them going forward
