it's all about how masculinity is defined in a culture. in the jewish culture the most desirable men were always the smartest. dumb jews didn't cut it because literacy has been a requirement for thousands of years.

I think it's genetic, but there needs to be scientific proof. I think there are studies/research currently being done IIRC.
