its remarkable how such a genius show could tear itself apart so easily

this will be the last season (it's still #sixseasonsandamovie for life tho :birdman: ), but the real last season was the previous one, take away harmon you might as well drop one of the characters. i'm expecting funny but not what i'm looking for in this show.

I didn't see a thread on this already, but Community returns tonight back in its old timeslot at 7pm central time. Originally it was supposed to air on Fridays and return much earlier in October, but due to issues with NBC they decided to hold it off and now we get the new season and possibly last season with 13 episodes. Nothing is confirmed as to what will be the fate of the show, as always it depends on ratings and it doesn't have to do great numbers just better numbers than some of the other NBC comedies.

Will be interesting to see how the show feels with no Dan Harmon and a lot of the writers leaving. Early word from critics is that the new show-runners stick with the formula of the show, but it lacks a certain something that Harmon brought to the table.

I've been a big fan of the show since the beginning, so however it turns out I will be riding with it until the end.

If its pretty much the same, why fire Dan Harmon in the first place:what: One of the most consistently funny and entertaining shows on television and NBC HAS to find a way to get rid of its brain child:snoop:

No Pierce :snoop:, they fired his ass after he called Troy and Sherry the N word on set

That's NOT what reportedly happened.

As for Chase's on-set outburst last October in which he used the N-word, McHale said it was Chase's way of protesting his character's racism, but McHale was quick to point out: "You shouldn't be throwing it around on set...When he said it, I was like, 'We are now at Defcon 1.'"

Not giving him a pass, but he did not use it to insult any of the African American cast members

Reading a preview for the series, and I can't help but feel like there's too much paintball/pillow war/zombie type shyt. There was a few big concept shows a season, but the rest were simple and just written well. Like the chaos theory episode which takes place entirely in Abed apartment.

The season premiere is a Hunger Games parody, the second episode takes place in Pierce's house which is a haunted house type parody, the third is at an inspector space-time convention, and the fourth is them beefing with Germans. Of course, I'm commenting on things I haven't seen yet, but that just feels like too much. The previous four seasons have saved shyt like that to build up towards a season finale, and this is how they're coming out of the gates. Like...what's left after that? I don't know how many parodies I can stomach in a single season.

I listened to Joel McHale on Stern this morning and basically it seemed like Chevy Chase was always dragging his feet on the set and acting as if being on a sitcom was "below him".

He had been arguing with the writers for a while, and the straw that broke the 's back was him dropping a N-bomb on the set (something along the lines of "oh why dont we just make my character even MORE racist and have Donald sit on my lap while I say ni....over and over"). McHale was saying that Pierce was always racist anyways, and that Chevy had probably had enough of the show and hated coming in to work
