it don't really mater though for 2 reasons
1. this ain't the 94' to 00' common we talkin' bout. as far as hip hop goes, common ain't really been the same since did that electric circus album. i thought it was a cool album on the basis of what it was but lyrically, that's where he slipped up and never got his balance back. sure, he's had moments since then but never as sharp as he was back from 94' to 00'. remember, common was the same brother who went at cube (a top 5 mc on my list of greatest emcees of all time) and made cube look foolish. i couldn't believe that one but then again when common when at cube, cube's peak as an emcee had passed.
(but i won't sit here and front like i ain't gon check out common's new album. he been comin' with it with these new songs and a new common album is always worth a listen or 2.)
2. drake is a corny. he's an average at best rapper who has no knack for singin'. i can't even believe when people say, "he can sing too!" really? that's what you call singin'?
but back to his rappin'. he never says anythin' that's remotely close to bein' great, or catchy like most would have you believe if you'd never heard him rhyme before. i can't even think a specific quote right now but whenever i hear his shyt on the radio and he says a line that's suppose to be witty, humorous or tight, i can't believe that that's what qualifies as bein' even close to great these days
