It was cheezy but not that much worse than many successful sitcoms during the day.
You gotta remember sh*t like "Harry and The Hendersons" and "Out of this World" were viable shows back then.
I still enjoy cheesy 80's and 90's sitcoms but I recognize most have aged badly. The ones that didn't had excellent writers/comedians behind them.
