If comey is smart he won't testify and will try to stay out of this as much as possible.

There is nothing he knows that the FBI doesn't already know. So no need to go before the Senate and answer questions.

Remember the FBI is supposed to be independent. Even if he's no longer apart of it he still kinda represents it as of right now. So if he goes out spilling everything that the FBI already knows he'll just make the FBI look like a political organization taking sides.
