I'm not even sure if that's better or worse than them just corrupt.

They're stupid, corrupt, arrogant. Look how they tried to roll out that travel ban. They didn't try to get input to try to even look lawful. I may be wrong, but personally I just don't see how Trump does this unless Comey has something big on him.

Trump, or at least somebody advising him, had to know how bad this would look (I don't even think the Trump administration could be that stupid) so the only logical explanation is that they felt that the alternative was worse.

1. Sessions caught wind of Comey digging something up...

2. Trump asked Comey to "clear" his name like he claimed in that letter and Comey did not comply...

I think its a combination of the two...
