The Tape Crusader
And yet, who is going to stop him? I hate Trump, but he is going to do whatever he wants with no repercussions for the next 8 years. The FBI and CIA will be led by goons and the DOJ will never bring any charges against him or any of his flunkies. His voters believe everything he says and the Republicans are falling in line.
Random ass judges from Hawaii, apparently.
He just placates himself. He's Donald Trump, everything's a facade with him. He's said he wants to be remembered as the President who was King, uses Richard Nixon's talking points of the silent majority, Law & Order, and the War on Drugs (which Steve Bannon's probably feeding him), and glorifies Andrew Jackson, which shows such a shallow grasp of American political history that even low level appellate courts are able to overturn most of his rulings because he's exactly the kind of executive leader the writers of the Constitution intended to prevent, almost to the letter. The point is, for 44 presidential election cycles, the politicians have recognized what restrictions were in place, so they never got out of line, thus Constitutional limits never really came into play (except in a few instances, like Jackson) because everybody knows their roles and their roles are exhaustively discussed and further defined through legal proceedings. Because Trump has a shallow understanding, he doesn't know what boundaries the president has and just assumed he had a carte blanche to act unilaterally, which honestly shows how even mildewy, archaic rules written by slave-owners over 200 years ago are effective at containing his demagoguery.
It's almost like if there was a guy who was the son of a wealthy real estate developer, who wanted to become an NFL Quarterback because of its perceived perks despite knowing nothing about football, and then once he bought his way onto a team, proceeded to try and do all sorts of crazy shyt like tell his teammates to punch the other players, and run onto the field from the sidelines and steal the ball from the other team to score a touchdown, making up his own system for points. shyt so flagrant that even his own teammates are like "You can't do that." He doesn't understand what the game is, let alone the rules, so he's incapable of playing it.
As you pointed out, his constituency is going to stand behind him no matter what he does, but because he's spent his whole life in a penthouse and isn't some Machiavellian dikk Cheney type, he's going to spend more time learning how to pull political strings than actually accomplishing anything. And because he's shown such an aversity to learning anything, he'll just decide it's 'too hard' and give up before he accomplishes any of his batshyt crazy ideas. We're afraid that what this means is he'll start dropping nukes on Chicago and nobody will bat an eye; but really what his silent majority will be standing by is how he says he'll do X, Y, and Z, never actually do them, and still think he's the greatest simply because he says so.
