yep, they did better over here. those western influences shined too much for the east. worked here but in one anime's case(forgot the name) Cartoon Network was talking bout they didnt want to pay the bill for another season. Im thinking it was Cowboy Bebop because the creator even came out and said that Spike isnt dead...if thats the way he wanted it to go. Said he was still open for a sequel.

and with them(not the same guy but old show coming back "them") making a new Lupin, maybe there is still a chance.
