Above the fray.
I’m still tight we ran him off man.smh
If it wasn't that, the diaspora wars would have done it.

Think this was before I joined, but younger guys view Tupac as a mythical character. People who were around when he was, see him as another man just like we are.

To sell records and generate publicity, Pac did and said a lot of dumb shyt. Added fuel to a fire that got a LOT of people hurt.
Reggie's insight as an industry figure who was around during that time is different than some 20 year old with Tupac posters on his wall.

Pac was a lot of things, not all of them were good.

How would he have been drawn in to the diaspora wars?

that was YALL. over some 2Pac opinions IIRC. had a walking, breathing hip hop encylopedia and nikkas pressed him over Pac smh

RIP Combat. Him, Dallas, Pete, Just, Benhameen, Matt Raz influenced me with that show. Hilarious, insightful and A-1 content

Combat Jack was a great dude with a great show, but he wasn't really a super hip hop head like that. He was a just a dude who had been in the mix for a while

Hard disagree - you don't put that much thought and love into a show based around hip-hop personalities if you just happen to be "in the mix".

I'm sure he loved hip hop as a Brooklynite. But you can love hip hop without being a walking encyclopedia. I only commented cuz the only complaint I had about his show was that he sometimes wasn't that knowledgeable about some facts. I listened to almost every episode when he started doing interviews and it was a common occurrence. And he definitely has admitted he spent more time in the house music clubs than in the hip hop spots during his day....

Edit: Saying he was not a hip hop head was a poor choice of words on my part. I should have just said he wasn't "an encyclopedia"

You right, me using the word encyclopedia might've been a stretch. He wasn't as well versed on Southern and West Coast rap as he was on East Coast

But he was a knowledge base for sure. Rubbing shoulders and handling business with some of the biggest names in the game during the late 80-early 2000s.
