He was put in a horrible situation breh. Nobody could've succeeded at Colorado with what Hawkins left behind then they lost a lot a recruiting pipeline in Texas and Oklahoma by moving to the pac12

Is this his second or third season?

I mean, lets be honest breh, they GOTTA be better than this.

We've seen teams turn around with the SAME talent from a previously horrible coach just from a change of attitude in a new coach. Thats gotta be worth 1-2 wins.

They havent been competitive in any game other than the 1 they won.

They've actually regressed from last year

I think this is like year two for him I believe but still, the time needed to even get them above the mediocrity will be well after he's fired. I mean they got Jordan Webb at qb and he couldn't even get PT at KU. They need to get a HC in there with an nfl pedigree

McCartney spittin that real

Former Colorado coach Bill McCartney claims racism in Jon Embree firing | Dr. Saturday - Yahoo! Sports

Former Colorado coaching legend Bill McCartney accused the university of racism in its handing of recently fired coach Jon Embree.
Embree, who is black, was fired after winning just four games in two seasons. McCartney, who coached the Buffs to a national title, said he won seven games in his first three years with the program and was given a contract extension in 1984. When asked on the radio why he thought he was given an extension and Embree was fired, McCartney didn't mince words.
"Honestly, I believe it's because I'm Caucasian. I believe black men have less opportunity, shorter time if you will," McCartney told ESPN radio in Denver.
"It's just like, Dan Hawkins got five full years. Why not give Jon Embree five years? You signed him to a five-year contract.
"Men of color have a more difficult road to tread. It didn't happen to me. Why should it happen to a black man?"

Embree should've never gotten the job...and he only did because the school is obsessed with "CU ties" and they're afraid to move past the McCartney era...Embree was a McCartney "suggestion"

And Hawkins got an extra year because the administration decided they couldn't afford to pay him and another coach...if he wasn't making nearly $1M per season, he would've been gone earlier than he was. He was essentially a lame-duck coach for 2 years :heh:

Thing is though, I have to :salute: Embree...

He was so bad, he single handedly turned CU into a school that was all about football into a basketball school

Embree da gawd

CU Buffs Bball 6-0

Cu wins either way :dealwithit:

Hell no.....I lol'd when they started Webb at QB. But they outsmarted themselves by moving to the Pac-12. Lost that Texas pipeline an are now a non factor (which was beginning to happen when Hawkins was there in the Big XII). You know you're a bad program when you can't even cash in on Cali rejects who chose Utah over you. Brotha was just put into a bad spot w/ no chance of even building anything even remotely competitive

To be honest, he is right to a degree. Black coaches at the college level are few and far in between, and have a lot less leverage. Look at Chizik in Auburn, no way he should have been hired with a 5-19 record from iowa state, true it brought auburn a national championship but he was hired over who many thought was a better candidate which was Turner Gill. The point of the matter is that dude got the chance with a shytty record for no known reason, same couod be said with Lane Kiffen. He has done nothing of merit to deserve the leeway he's gotten.
