Accounting * Buisness Administration * Economics doesn't fall under STEM.

I graduated in December of 2002 at the age of 23, right when all the post 9/11 crashing was going down. I had to take an 11.00 / hr job as my first gig after graduation, because with my GPA none of the engineering companies would hire me.

Unemployment during the early 2000s recession peaked at about 6.3%. Unemployment in the latest recession peaked at about 10% and is still much higher than it was during that recession. The latest recession was also significantly longer and the recovery is MUCH slower.

People graduating nowadays wish they could've graduated in that type of economy.

Should have gone to an Ivy or Top 20 school if you wanted to get into business. No room for state schoolers in a two-tiered world these days. You lost :beli:

This is true. The post-dotcom/911 recession was minor compared to the fallout of the 2008-09 financial crisis. The two don't compare at all.

where do you live man? You need to come to Texas. Every person I know in Accounting has so much work, they hate it and are always trying to go back to grad school to get a masters in something else. But they always end up back in accounting because companies are fighting over them here in Dallas. And trust, I know plenty of them with much worse grades. You guys know that your life will be ok if you aren't a middle manager at a fortune 500 in New York right? Lots of good jobs with good companies and hell, all these municipalities looking for CPAs. Come eat!

If it isn't from UCLA or UCB, your BS in Econ is BS :beli:

i didnt, and I agree with your statement. My degree is not worth much at all. i wish i would have gone into the trades. it would have beem cheaper and more fullfilling I think. i worked hard in college. Im not that smart , so i have to really study to get As, which i did, but i feel like that effort wasn't worth it.

I can fix and repair anything.that should have been my path in life. But i bought into this college nonsense and it doesnt even really pay off. oh we thats life. There are always accounting jobs though. I'll do that for my wife and kids. at least they can say their father is CPA.

dog, people are getting hired out of my class left and right. Accounting is a good field, and its good everywhere.

just look at craigslist posting out here. Accounting is like pages and pages full everyday. tech and stem... Not so much, and this ia the silicon valley.

And at least you don't have to go to a top tier to get a job in accounting like STEM. Google, applied mat, oracle and apple hire straight from berkeley, SCU and stanford. They aren't interested in csu STEM students or places like UC merced.

I think STEM is great for the mid west. i dont see too many non-engineering STEM kids having a lot of luck out here. BIochem/biology kids seem to have the worsr luck.

True, but to your original point...

To be fair, you probably didn't graduate in a recession.

I did in fact.

go private. You don't want to get into auditing right out of college that shyts a nightmare. They make shyt money and work horrible hours. Unless you plan on staying with them for years...
that being said there are some benefits and namely the NAME is great to have on your resume. You can still get a CPA and make money without having worked at a big 4. PWC just left my company a few weeks ago after doing an audit and those poor b*stards work some crazy hours and get paid less than I do.

No, he needs to try public accounting first. If you want to maximize your career options struggling through PA for a couple of years is better than anything else.

Motherfukkers making threads about easy ass business math?

Are you trolling?
:snoop:

pick a better field.

What's a better field? Have you ever heard of an accountant having a hard time getting a job?

Accounting IS business math. Sorry friend. Nothing wrong with accountants, but the math is extremely weak and I always hear fukkers bytching about it.

What do you mean by business math? Accountibg is more science than math.

You are a dumbass

You don't post in here all that much homie, but this guy is trolling. I try to get more cats like you and others in the TLR to post in here, but if you don't I blame you for not knowing. He's one of those anti-college people. Always has been. This guy went from being an economic genius supposedly in KTL to suffering for employment right now. I don't buy it. Oh, and he's weird .

It's business math. Simple shyt. You don't have to provide proof for anything. Accounting is an over saturated market because it's too damn easy to get a degree or certification . The Wall Street firms already wised up to it so they are beginning to hire math majors instead.

Quant in Business School is multi-faceted and can't really be compared to Accounting. Quant in Business School, at least the Quant I just took was a mix of:

Decision Theory, Probability, Inventory Modeling, Linear Programming, Forecasting and Regression, Simulation, and Queuing Theory

Some topics intersect but not really...and they intersected way more with my Operations Management, Econ, and MIS classes than my Accounting class.
