I was thinking computer science

Thats a good call. Just know that most grad opportunities for econ will require a math background. CS is probably the best degree out there right now. For a pure econ degree your school's brand is the most important thing.

Fed loans and private loans year to year that my mom is helping me pay off. I'll owe around 40-45k when I get out if all goes according to plan.

Scholarships helped me tremendously. That's why it's imperative to aim high your freshman year to condition yourself to keep on pushing and using that same drive towards the rest of yrs in HS. I've seen so many of my friends fail the first 2 yrs, but made it up the last 2 yrs with a D or C average and they're crying because they either cannot pay for college or the loans straight kicking their ass when they come out of school.

Tuition Assistance and soon going to be post 9/11 GI Bill :whew:

I had a semester's worth of loans from before I joined the Air Force that I paid off already.
