The casting for SDG Quantum Productions animated franchise continues to add respected stalwarts to its cast, with the announcement that Maria Katre and Jason C. Louder have joined the cast in key roles.
Though specific plot details are being kept close to the vest, The Uptown Chronicles has been described as a science-fiction/fantasy epic, following an African American family as they grapple with the meanings of lineage, heritage, and destiny against the backdrop of Chicago in the year 2100. The project looks to infuse the irreverent humor of The Boondocks, the family dynamic of the Cosby Show, and the afro-futurism of Black Panther into an original, entertaining, and topical offering that families the world over will enjoy. Katre and Louder join previously announced cast members Zane Copeland Jr, Shani Jasmin Richardson and Major Attaway. Creator Steven Goard was also announced to be providing the vocal cast.
Maria Katre, a graduate of The British American Drama Academy, is perhaps best known for the short film ‘Mo’, which she wrote, produced, and starred in. ‘Mo’ was bestowed Best Drama Short by The Independent Shorts Awards, with Katre also being awarded Best Actress by the same institution. An accomplished musician, Katre also performed trumpet beside Beyonce during her groundbreaking Coachella performance in 2018, also featuring in the subsequent concert film, Homecoming: A Film by Beyonce. Katre is repped by Heyman Talent Agency.
Jason C. Louder is perhaps best known for co-starring on The CW’s DC Superhero Series Black Lightening as Frank “2-Bits” Tanner. He also appeared in the Hulu original series Wu-Tang: An American Saga portraying the character of Cressy. Other credits include a recurring role on the Starz Channel original series BMF and the upcoming series Vice Squad: New Orleans. Louder is repped by People Store.
The Uptown Chronicles is created by Steven Goard through SDG Quantum Productions. The film and subsequent series will be written by Alonge Hawes, who will also co-direct alongside Goard and serve as executive producer and showrunner through A Million Stories One Pen Productions. Goard is repped by CESD Talent Agency. Jason C. Louder, in addition to his voice role, will also serve as a producer on the project.

Following various casting announcements and teasers, SDG Productions is officially taking the curtain off of its ambitious animated project “The Uptown Chronicles”, releasing both an official trailer and the series synopsis.
Following the Hamilton family, led by scientist father Dre and guardian mother Maya, as their five children – gifted chef Tasha, bookish introvert Sienna, slacker son Ty, and adolescent prodigies Jordan and Keira – learn from their parents about their destinies as the descendants of an ancient magical order tasked with maintaining balance in the world.
When a mysterious threat in the form of a giant robot called Neocron appears, the children awaken their powers of super strength, telekinesis, speed, and technological manipulation to face this devastating foe.
Join the Hamilton’s on a quest that infuses humor, heart, and afro-futurism into an unforgettable adventure!
The 4-minute trailer offers exciting visuals rendered in 3D utilizing Unreal Engine 5, the latest graphics engine developed by Epic Games. The project will be animated by Dom Fred Films (Space Agents: The Mysterious Axe) with art design by Patrick King. The series is set to star the voice talents of Steven Goard as Andre “Dre” Hamilton, Major Attaway as Victor Hyde, Jasmine Richardson as Maya Hamilton, Maria Katre as Tasha Hamilton, Zane “Lil Zane” Copeland Jr as Ty Hamilton, Shani Hawes as Sienna Hamilton, Mina Kraynak as Keira Hamilton, Arinze as Jordan Hamilton, and Jason C. For the animated series a guy named Steven Goard approached me over IG as he was a fan of my series Blue Collar Hustle. He’s been a voice actor for the past 15 years and he had an idea he wanted me to help him flesh out. I heard his pitch, liked what he had so far and offered my services. He accepted and I came onboard as the writer for the pilot. The pilot came out great and from there he got enough interest to get funding to put together a trailer as a proof of concept. Thats when I officially came onboard as co-director and executive producer. The rest is history

As Jaro Media’s acclaimed digital series Silver & Gold continues to amass accolades, one the show’s main cast members has reaped particular praise, Pantheah Hawes. The long-time entertainer and character actor has earned critical acclaim for her portrayal of Amunet, the no-nonsense matriarch of a mysterious and mystical organization. In a latest showing of admiration and respect for her work, Hawes, who passed away in early June, has posthumously garnered her first awards nomination for Best Supporting Actress from the Oniros Film Awards.
The announcement on Thursday, July 4th, was yet the latest in a series of awards nominations and wins for the critically acclaimed series. The Oniros Film Awards also bestowed nominations on the series for Best Web Series and for Best Supporting Actor for series creator and co-star Alonge Hawes.
Pantheah Hawes, a 40-year staple in entertainment, was a renowned jazz singer who headlined many musical festivals across the United States, including the annual Jazz Fests in both Lansing, Michigan and Atlanta, Georgia. Her forays into acting began in 2003 with a supporting role in the critically acclaimed stage play “Lightning Strikes Three Times”. She followed that up with smaller roles in critically acclaimed television shows such as ‘Greenleaf’, ‘The Resident’, and film roles in ‘Coming 2 America’, but it was Silver & Gold that marked her breakout performance, earning her praise from critics such as Jeremy Gladstone of indyred and Corey Ware of BlackScreenCritics. Her nuanced and electrifying performance in the series sixth episode, ‘The Color Of Jazz Is Blu(e)’ saw her pulling off the full repertoire of her entertainment arsenal; singing, dancing, and scene stealing.
Silver & Gold is created, directed, and written by Alonge Hawes. The series stars Quentin Williams as Charles Goldar, Brittaney Traylor as Bahiya Payne, Shani Hawes as Cierra Valentine, Roberto Cruz Jr as Sosa Gerena, Julian Robinson as Aiyden Booker, Pantheah Hawes as Amunet, and Roxzane T. Mims as Akili. Alonge Hawes, Eduardo Bryant, Richard DeVaughn, and Mary Bouche serve as executive producers. Joshua Dennard, Cordarol Sanders, Shani Hawes, Quentin Williams, Jamal Mcclendon and Rodderick Fedd serve as producers.
The Oniros Film Awards will announce the winners for all categories live from New York City on July 6th, 2024.
