Jaro Media’s upcoming series Silver & Gold has steadily let potential fans and viewers into its world. Poster art, an official synopsis, and previous teasers have introduced us to a diverse cast of characters including the leading protagonists whom the series, described as a “caper” by Jaro Media executives, will follow. It seems, however, that Jaro has saved the most intriguing for last.
In a surprising (though not particularly shocking) revelation, series creator & director Alonge Hawes appears in the newest and final teaser visual as a character named Ramses Coltrane. The 34 second clip, titled “Revolutionary Warfare”, sees Hawes’s character, dressed in Ghanian styled clothing, holding what appears to be a Katana sword and standing amongst a group of black conglomerates who are all dressed in dashikis. Amongst the group is actor Joshua Quinn, who was previously announced as co-starring in the series in an unknown role. Check out the teaser below.
Though Hawes was not previously linked to Silver & Gold in an acting capacity, he played leading roles in his previous digital series Blue Collar Hustle and Black On Both Sides. Hawes was named Best Actor in 2020 by the L.A Shorts Awards for his work as Anansi Moor in Black On Both Sides‘ first season.
Silver & Gold will premiere this Fall on Jaro Media. It is directed, written, and executive produced by Hawes through his company A Million Stories One Pen Productions. Jamal McClendon, Cordarol Sanders, Shani Hawes, Joshua Dennard, Quentin Williams, and Rodderick Fedd serve as producers.
Jaro Media provides on-demand streaming access to a world of African American and Afrocentric digital media including video, visual arts, books, and music. Jaro’s unique platform integrates social media, customer control, and media access into an innovative user experience.

Alonge Hawes is looking to capitalize on a busy 2022 by premiering not one, but two original series at the upcoming 6th annual Minnesota Webfest; continuing a fruitful relationship of collaboration between the critically acclaimed auteur and the prestigious festival.

The series will be available via Jaro Media in Fall of this year. Quentin Williams, Brittaney Traylor, Roberto Cruz Jr, and Shani Hawes make up the ensemble cast. Hawes executive produces alongside Rich DeVaughn. Jamal McClendon, Cordarol Sanders, Quentin Williams, Shani Hawes, Joshua Dennard, and Rodderick Fedd serve as producers.

The second series, ‘Good Black Man,’ is described as “The journey of a man who is attempting to put his life back together after a series of unfortunate events; whilst raising his daughter and attempting to avoid falling into the negative stereotypes commonly associated with black men in modern society.” While no release date nor platform were announced for the series as of press time, Hawes will again serve as executive producer, writer and director of all episodes. Joshua Dennard, Jamal McClendon, Shani Hawes, Rodderick Fedd, and Cordarol Sanders serve as producers.

The history between Alonge Hawes and the Minnesota Webfest runs deep. Hawes has received 11 award nominations over the festival’s five-year history, winning 2, including Best Representation For Communities Of Color at the inaugural ceremony for his debut series ‘Blue Collar Hustle’ and Best Returning Series, for Blue Collar Hustle’s second season one year later.
Hawes was also the keynote speaker at the festival’s 2019 edition, where his sophomore series ‘Black On Both Sides’ also made its world premiere.
The Minnesota Webfest was founded by George Reese in 2017 as the first film festival dedicated to the web and digital series format. As a member of the Web Series World Cup, the festival has joined forces with two other industry film festivals–Catalyst Stories and the Duluth Superior Film Festival–to bring a week of networking, education, and entertainment extending from the web series to film and independent television. The Minnesota Webfest takes place September 26-28th in Duluth, Minnesota.

Following July’s announcement that Alonge Hawes would premiere two brand new digital series at the 6th annual Minnesota Webfest, the festival has announced that Hawes has garnered 4 nominations at the upcoming event. The upcoming Jaro original series ‘Silver & Gold’ has garnered nominations in the writing and genre series categories as has the original series ‘Good Black Man.’
‘Silver & Gold’ is nominated for Best Series Script and Best Thriller/Horror Series. ‘Good Black Man’ also picked up a Best Series Script nom (pairing Hawes against himself and four other nominees) as well as a nod for Best Dramatic Series. Hawes is no stranger to the Minnesota Webfest, having been nominated 11 times previously and winning twice. He won Best Representation Of Communities Of Color at the inaugural ceremony in 2017 for the first season of his digital series ‘Blue Collar Hustle.’ He also took home the award for Best Returning Series for Blue Collar Hustle’s second season. The nominations at the upcoming festival gives Hawes the distinction of being the first person to have two separate projects nominated in the writing category.
