Alonge Hawes seems to be expanding his artistic reach. The talented auteur has inked a series development deal with streaming & entertainment network Jaro Media. Under the pact, Hawes will create, write, and direct a brand new series for the platform. Hawes will also produce the series alongside longtime collaborators Quentin Williams, Jamal Mcclendon, Shani Hawes, Joshua Dennard, Cordarol Sanders and Rodderick Fedd via their A Million Stories One Pen Entertainment banner.

Alonge Hawes, an outstanding filmmaker, writer and actor, has produced high quality award-winning web series, beginning with “Blue Collar Hustle,” that bring a unique consciousness to the diversity of the African American experience,” Jaro Media Services CEO Richard E. Devaughn said Thursday in a statement. “Partnering with Alonge and A Million Stories One Pen Productions falls in line with JARO’s promise that our audience have a place where they will be entertained while seeing themselves – A home of our own.”

The deal comes almost two years after Hawes inked a similar series development deal with independent streaming powerhouse Seeka.TV. That partnership saw Hawes create, write, direct, and star in the digital series Black On Both Sides, for which Hawes was bestowed The Best Screenplay award by the Oniros Film Awards, and Best Director by the L.A. Shorts Awards. Both Jaro and Seeka provided early streaming support for Hawes’s debut series Blue Collar Hustle, whose first season was named Best Web Series by both the Urban Media Makers Film Festival and The London Independent Film Awards.

The second season of Blue Collar Hustlewas named Best Web Series by the Oniros Film Awards and Best Returning Series by the Minnesota Webfest.

While specific details regarding the new series are being kept under wraps, it has been reported that Hawes & Williams collaborated on the initial concept for the original story and that Williams, himself a successful musician, will score an original soundtrack for the series.

Jaro Media Services provides on-demand streaming access to a world of African American and Afrocentric digital media including video, visual art, books, and music. Jaro’s unique platform integrates social media, customer control, and media access into an innovative user experience.

Following the announcement that Jaro Media had inked multihyphenate Alonge Hawes to a series development deal, the entertainment platform has set his new series, titled ‘Silver & Gold’ for a release in Fall 2022.

The series, which is described as a “blend of comedy, action, drama, and Afro-futurism set against the backdrop of Atlanta’s criminal underground” will be written, directed, and executive produced by Hawes, who will also serve as show-runner. The series will star Quentin Williams (Blue Collar Hustle) and Brittaney Traylor (Black On Both Sides) as a pair of suave and sexy lovers who also happen to be amongst the best and most elusive thieves in the world.

Silver & Gold is the latest series to be created under Alonge Hawes company A Million Stories One Pen Productions; with Shani Hawes, Joshua Dennard, Jamal McClendon, Rodderick Fedd, and Cordarol Sanders set as producers. The official series logo has been unveiled below.

Silver & Gold will mark Alonge Hawes’s return after a nearly three year hiatus following the second season of the critically acclaimed series Black On Both Sides, which was given a 4 star rating from film critic website Indyred. The series also won Hawes Best Director honors from the L.A. Shorts Awards as well as Best Web Series from the Cult Critics Film Awards. The ending of the series marked the culmination of Hawes’s previous production deal with streaming platform Seeka.tv.

In addition to Silver & Gold, Hawes’s pact with Jaro Media is to include a content channel of sorts which will spotlight Hawes’s work as well as other curated content on Jaro’s entertainment and streaming platform.

Jaro Media provides on-demand streaming access to a world of African American and Afrocentric digital media including video, visual arts, books, and music. Jaro’s unique platform integrates social media, customer control, and media access into an innovative user experience.

Sosa Cruz, the seven year old basketball sensation who went viral two years ago after her prodigious ball handling skills lit up social media, is to be the subject of an upcoming feature documentary.

Directed by Roberto ‘Sosa’ Cruz, The documentary, titled ‘It Was Written’, chronicles Sosa’s rise through the amateur basketball circuit in her hometown of Atlanta, Ga. At the age of five, under the tutelage of her father Roberto ‘Big Sosa’ Cruz, Sosa first caught the sporting world’s attention when she became the first female member of the Decatur Blazers, an AAU youth club for which she was named league MVP for the 2019 season. From there young Sosa honed her skills under trainer/coach Brandon Bailey, releasing a series of dribbling tutorials on social media which caught the attention of conglomerate ESPN, who featured her videos on their official website. In June of 2020 Sosa was a guest on The Steve Harvey Show, where she gave a live demonstration of her dribbling skills and was praised by WNBA star Te’a Cooper and NBA Superstar Steph Curry.

‘It Was Written’ will be executive produced by Roberto ‘Sosa’ Cruz, Sarah Cruz, and Alonge Hawes (under his A Million Stories One Pen Productions imprint). Joshua Dennard and Asante Watkins serve as producers. ‘It Was Written’ is currently on track to be released sometime in the first quarter of 2022.
